For more years than I care to count, I represented many clients by filing pleadings and appearing on their behalf in Court. Due to medical issues, it became problematic for me to handle Court appearances, but I was still receiving a lot of calls from past clients in need of help. I quickly realized that I could still provide assistance by drafting pleadings even if I couldn’t appear in Court. As well, I could certainly draft other documents, such as deeds or Powers of Attorney, Answers to Complaints, etc. From this experience HelpUFile was born.

REPRESENT YOURSELF You may be thinking that representing yourself is too difficult or impossible. Well, in some cases it is. But in simpler, less complex cases, the kind many people become involved, it is not. In these instances, such as a simple Divorce, people are capable of representing themselves, if procedures are explained to them and pleadings were properly drafted. With some legal direction and pleading drafted that the Court can understand and act upon, your road to a successful completion of your case will be smoother straighter, and shorter.

HELPUFILE * LEGAL WORKS IN MANY SITUATIONS HELPUFILE works, obviously for anything that just requires the drafting or review of documents, such as real estate, corporate filings, Answering of Complaints, Powers of Attorney, and Wills. But more importantly, it works in many simple cases that many people may find themselves. Divorce, if there are not a lot of complex issues involved, is a prime example. HelpUFile Can also assist you in answering a Complaint in many civil cases, such as a collection matter, for example. It can also work in Probate or Bankruptcy Court, or even start a civil case of your own. And in the event that you decide it is too much too handle, an attorney of your choosing can enter an appearance in the case at any time. In that event, I can make a referral in many instances for you.

HOW HELPUFILE WORKS Before it can be determined if whether or not your matter is one that is one that you can attempt on your own it is necessary to obtain information about your case. Therefore, it is asked that you fill out a New Case Information form be completed. There are forms provided for that purpose. There is one Page 1 of 2Page 2 of 2for divorces and another for other civil matters. Next, before any pleading can be drafted we will discuss the issues particular to your case by phone. In that way the issues can be framed properly to properly advise the Court as well as point you in the right direction. After we agree on what is necessary we can set an exact fee. Typically, Divorce Complaints filed in cases without minor children are $200. If there are minor children involved for which an Interim Order for Support is necessary costs an additional $75. In some instances the Judge may require that a Motion be filed for child support. A Motion for Child Support typically costs $100. Other Complaints, or Answers to Complaints depend on the type of case. But Complaints are typically in the $200 range. Answers to Complaints often times are less expensive. Again based on what issues with which we are dealing. Documents such as deeds, Powers of Attorney and Wills are listed on the HelpUFile Page with the New Case Forms. In all cases, after payment of the fees the pleadings or documents will be provided to you, with the chance for you to review the same and make changes. At the same time, the court procedures involved in filing and maintaining the case will be fully explained to you. First the filing of the case will be explained. Where to file it, the filing fees, and submission of any Orders. You will know what to expect both from the Court’s Clerks and the Judge. There are also several options at this point, which we can discuss. For example, we can file the Complaint or even serve the Defendant with the Complaint. The Court charges a filing fee and the Process Server also has a fee, which is listed on the HelpUFile Page.
